The Allen-Bradley 1746-HSCE is a High-Speed Counter Module that has a single input and four (4) open-collector outputs. These I/O points support a voltage of 5 Volts DC, 12 Volts DC, or 24 Volts DC. This HSC module provides three (3) different operating modes: the range mode with a frequency of 50 Kilohertz and an update time of 3.9 milliseconds, the rate mode with a frequency of 32 Kilohertz and an update time of 70 milliseconds, and the sequencer mode with a frequency of 50 Kilohertz and an update time of 1.8 milliseconds. This module can be employed with an SLC 500 to process digital signals. The 1746-HSCE draws a backplane current of 32 milliamperes at 5 Volts DC.
The device provides a single bidirectional counting channel that can be employed as a pulse/direction, up/down, or quadrature counter input. The 1746-HSCE can be employed to control and monitor high-speed or motion machines such as motors, packaging, and flow monitoring applications. This module has LED indicators to show the module and I/O points status and to help the troubleshooting process when issues occur. The 1746-HSCE employs the backplane optical isolation provided by optocouplers to offer electrical isolation of 1500 Volts AC between the control logic and I/O points. This device is a single slot module that can be mounted on an SLC 500 chassis slot and provides the NEMA standard for noise immunity. This digital device operates at a temperature range of zero (0) to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) and weighs approximately 210 grams (0.46 pounds) while shipping.
