The Allen-Bradley PanelView 2711P-T12W21D8S electronic operator panel is primarily used as a display and feedback device to ensure that the user has an improved degree of control over the industrial automation system. The device can be configured over an Ethernet/IP network and is also provided with USB ports to facilitate data transfer within the system. The display screen of the panel is sensitive to touch and can be used by the operator to study the feedback of the control system and relay messages and instructions to components within the system. The touch screen has an actuation rating of one million presses and can be operated with a force equivalent to 100 grams. The touch screen consists of touch objects which are activated by aligning the interactive touch cells with the objects on the screen.

The Allen-Bradley 2711P-T12W21D8S terminal can be operated on a non-isolated direct current source rated at 24 volts. The Ethernet ports provided on the terminal support star, linear, and DLR network topology and can be used to establish lines of communication between the display device and the other I/O components within the automation system. The network can also be used to trigger the functions of external devices such as printers and scanners. The device functions on a random access memory capacity of 512 megabytes and is equipped with 80 megabytes of non-volatile memory to ensure secure transfer and storage of files and data.

The Allen-Bradley 2711P-T12W21D8S is a PanelView Plus 7 operator terminal. It has a widescreen 12-inch color WXGA TFT LCD touch screen with an aspect ratio of 16:10. The 2711P-T12W21D8S display has a 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, which can support animated graphics and text displays in applications that follow the state of a machine, as well as applications connected to other devices on Ethernet/IP network. The internal memory has 512 MB RAM and 512 MB nonvolatile memory, with 80 MB free user memory. That internal storage can be increased using internal cards and external flash drives. All communications are performed through one USB 2.0 high-speed port, one high-speed 1.0 device port that supports host communication, and one 10/100 Base-T Ethernet port for network linear and star communication. The terminal can be also installed in a ring configuration, but only if a DLR option is present. After power-up and self-test, terminal diagnostic screens can be used as PLC or HMI screens for troubleshooting. As a standard terminal, the 2711P-T12W21D8S can perform and establish a connection to one controller (CompactLogix preferred), a maximum of 100 screens, and up to 500 alarms. The terminal operating temperature should be 0 to 55 degrees Celsius (32 to 131 degrees Fahrenheit) and should have a relative humidity of 5 to 95%.
