As a 1000 terminal, it is recommended that the power supply for the 2711P-K10C4D8 is a safety-low voltage (SELV) or a protected low extra voltage (PELV). To mount the 2711P-K10C4D8, the terminal needs to be left with a minimum top clearance of 51 mm (2 in), a bottom clearance of 102 mm (4 in), and a side clearance of 25 mm (1 in), with no clearance necessary for the back of the terminal. The display has a CCFL backlight that has a 50,000-hour minimum life at 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit). The CCFL backlight starts a temperature control protocol when the internal temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit) or above 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit). If the internal temperature falls below the minimum, the backlight is set to overdrive. This means that the backlight is set to its full-rated current settings, which generates heat. If the internal temperature goes above 60 degrees Celsius, it turns the display brightness down to 40% or less. The 2711P-K10C4D8 terminal is also capable of alerting operators to trouble or technical malfunctions thanks to the alarm display. Each new alarm that occurs on the terminal is shown in the alarm display or banner. When the operator acknowledges the newest alarm, they are able to choose to close the alarm display or leave it open. Applications that support alarms may contain a pop-up banner display when an alarm is triggered, alarm buttons that enable the operator to act on an alarm (such as print, acknowledge, and clear), or an alarm list that stores information on triggered alarms.
