The Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 523 series adjustable frequency drive has a voltage rating of 480 Volts of alternating current and is three-phase. The output current at 3-phase, 380 to 480 Volts input is 6 Amperes and normal as well as heavy duty work output of 3 horsepower (2.2 Kilowatts). The drive has a novel design which offers wide application and can integrate with single machine or a process network easily. The drive has a detachable control module and power module that makes simultaneous configuration and installation very easy. The uniform design makes the operator comfortable over the entire PowerFlex family of products. It has a special MainsFree feature that allows the operator to simply connect the module to a PC with a standard USB cable and install new settings or retrieve data/programs conveniently. The drive has an integral brake transistor that enables dynamic braking by means of low cost brake resistors. The drive is protected from inrush current with a relay pre-charge. The adjustable PWM frequency provides very quiet operation. The motor control methods include Volts per Hertz and sensorless vector control. The position control uses PointStop which stops motor lead in a consistently equal position with no encoder for feedback. The PowerFlex 523 drive has one PID loop to increase its functionality. The system I/O consists of one analog input, five digital inputs, one analog output and one relay output. The drive is compatible with any RTU Master device and can be configured in a network for high performance and flexible configuration.
