The 1394-DIM drive interface module is manufactured by Allen-Bradley. The module is compatible with 1394 drive systems. This drive interface module offers four analog outputs, four drive enable outputs and four drive fault inputs. When this interface module is used with the 1394 system, it allows operators to control axis modules, external drives, and any size of motor. The 1394-DIM allows for 1394 C, T, or L system modules to control any external drive with a ±10 volt velocity torque reference command and quadrature encoder output. This interface module can support up to four drives. The module has an input voltage of 24 V, with 50 kHz provided by the connected system module. The 1394-DIM has a power dissipation rating of 30 watts and signal isolation of 1500 V rms. This module produces an analog output voltage of 0-10 V. The module also features a 12-bit resolution, 4.88 mV of output resolution, and a 220-ohm output impedance. The 1394-DIM measures 15.75 x 11.02 x 1.97 inches and has a weight of 6.6 pounds. The module employs a slide and lock method for installation, which removes up to 100 wire connections. It requires a Belden 8163 cable, or similar, with a length of 4.5 meters for wiring. The 1394-DIM should be operated in an environment with a temperature ranging from 0 to 50 degrees Celsius (32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit) with a relative humidity of 5 to 95%.
