The 6181P is designed to operate with both displays and without display industrial processing units. It comes with an optimized touch screen and a central processing unit that can support every detail from conventional Microsoft to virtualized images. The platform was created to supplement Intel's 4th generation processors to these computers by adding DisplayPort, USB 3.0 slot, and Intel Rapid Startup features. By presenting a broad range of models, monitor sizes, and mounting approaches, 6181P is integrated with displays that meet the requirements of the industry we serve. There are display and non-display versions available, with monitor sizes ranging from (4:3 and 5:4) standard to screen (16:9). NEMA 4X requirements are met by 6181P integral display computers having steel bezels, making them an excellent choice for applications related to food and beverages. These computers support a variety of mounting techniques in both landscape and portrait views, contributing to a compact 'bookshelf' mounting choice for non-display models. By offering a variety of package options, customers can choose the one that best meets their specific requirements based on the intended usage and performance needs of the product.
Package Options
The package options are typically divided into three levels:
- Standard
- Performance
- Advanced
Each option has its unique hardware specifications, such as processor type, the volume of memory, supported removable media, outside connectors, and expansion slot type. This variety of package options enables customers to select the one that best matches their specific requirements based on the intended usage and performance needs of the product. By having different package options available, customers have the freedom to choose the option that meets their unique needs instead of being restricted to a single standard configuration.
Display
The Attribute Integrated Display of 6181P is a versatile computing solution that is suitable for various industrial applications. It gives users a range of display options to choose from, including a non-display option called NDM that can be customized for specific requirements. It is available in four display sizes, which are 12.1 inches (1200P), 15 inches (1500P), 17 inches (1700P), and 19 inches (1900P). The 1500P and 1900P displays come in widescreen formats with a 16:9 aspect ratio, offering better visibility and support for PCAP touch screens.
Enclosure Ratings
The Plus 6181P industrial computer is available in display models that have different enclosure ratings depending on the specific needs of the application. The enclosure ratings are determined by industry standards such as the “National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA)” and the “International Electro-technical Commission (IEC).” The performance Package of the Plus 6181P is rated for NEMA Type 1, 12, 4, and IEC IP66, which means they are designed to protect against dust, dirt, oil, and water ingress. The standard package also has the same enclosure ratings as the performance models. The stainless steel Package has additional enclosure ratings of NEMA Type 4X, which means they are designed to protect against corrosion and are suitable for use in harsh environments. It is important to note that these enclosure ratings are applicable only when the unit is placed precisely on a smooth plane of the same type, as specified in the installation instructions. By providing a range of enclosure ratings, the Plus 6181P industrial computer can be used in a variety of industrial settings and applications while ensuring reliable and durable performance.

- Only full-screen models have such temperature ranges.
- The ODD (optical disc drive) classifies as a device for maintenance. Avoid using the drive in situations with the mentioned vibrations and shock levels. The motor should not be used in temperatures exceeding 45 °C.
- This is not applicable to devices without a display stored on a bookshelf.
Connect Peripherals
When setting up a computer, it is important to connect the necessary peripherals, including the keyboard and mouse, to ensure the computer can be used effectively. The specific components required to connect these peripherals will vary depending on the model of the computer. For Performance and Non-display models, the required components include a keyboard port, a mouse port, a parallel port, a DVI-I port, Ethernet ports, a power switch, a PCI riser slot cover (depending on the model), a power input (which can be AC or DC depending on the model), a CompactFlash Type II card slot, a functional ground screw, serial COM ports, a mic jack, audio in jack, an audio out jack, and USB ports. On the other hand, for Standard Models, the necessary components include a serial COM port, power switch, audio out jack, Ethernet ports, audio in jack, functional ground screw, power input (which is DC), power input (which is AC), microphone-in jack, and USB ports. Following the manufacturer's instructions when connecting peripherals is important to ensure proper functionality. By connecting these peripherals correctly, users can enjoy a seamless experience while using their computers.
Available Processors
Package options deal with varying levels of processing power, determined by the type of processor included. The Standard package includes the Intel Celeron processor, suitable for basic computing tasks. The Performance package features the Intel i3-4102E processor, which is capable of handling more demanding applications. For complex tasks, the Advanced package comes with the Intel i7-4700EQ processor, incorporating the highest level of processing power.
RAM Type
The Plus 6181P uses different RAM types, depending on the model and configuration. The standard models come with DDR2 memory, with a maximum memory capacity of 4 GB (2 GB installed). The performance models feature DDR3 memory with a maximum memory capacity of 16 GB (4 GB installed). The advanced models also feature DDR3 memory but with a higher maximum memory capacity of 16 GB (8 GB installed).
Touch Screen Technology
The Plus 6181P features an array of touchscreen alternatives that suit a variety of industrial computing needs and environments. The 1200P and 1500P models have a resistive antiglare touch screen, whereas the 1700P and 1900P models have a PCAP touch screen. For exterior use, the 1900P model has a resistive antiglare coating touch.
Primary Storage Media
The 6181P industrial computer grants two primary storage media options: a 32 GIGABYTES SLC, 2.5-inch SATA drive for high-performance applications and a larger 256 GIGABYTES MLC, 2.5-inch drive for greater storage capacity at a lower cost. The selection between the two options depends on the user's storage needs and budget, with SLC drives producing faster performance and better endurance, while MLC drives offer a more affordable solution.
Apply Power
The Plus 6181P series of industrial computers employ flexibility in terms of power options. Depending on the specific model, these computers can be connected to a 100-240Volts AC or 18-32Volts DC power supply. This design ensures that the computers can be used in various industrial settings that may have different power supply systems. The dual power supply options provide a reliable and efficient source of power to ensure the uninterrupted operation of industrial computers.
Cleaning
Cleaning the display, vent holes, and heat sink, and removing any paint or grease, are important for computer maintenance. To clean the display, disconnect the power source and use mild soap with a soft cloth. Be careful not to use abrasive solvents (cleansers) that can harm the display window, and avoid high-pressure showers that can also lose the front gaskets and bezel. It is also important to avoid chemicals that the 6181P computer bezels resist and be cautious if the computer has a touch screen to prevent screen objects from activating whenever equipment is being cleaned if the computer is running.
