Conversely, in SNK mode, the drive will be turned on when the voltage is within the 0 to 6V range and off when the voltage is between 18 to 24V.
The PowerFlex 523 drive is equipped with a programmable control output, which is a form C output. The resistive rating of this output is 3.0 Amps at 30 Volts DC, 125 Volts AC, and 240 Volts AC, while the inductive rating is 0.5 Amps at 30V DC, 125 Volts AC, and 240 Volts AC. Additionally, the drive can also accept various analog control inputs, such as 4-20 mA analog input with 250-ohm input resistance, 0-10V DC analog input with 100 k-ohm input impedance, and an external pot with a resistance range of 1 to 10 k-ohm and a minimum of 2 W.
Lastly, the PowerFlex 523 drive requires appropriate fuses and circuit breakers to function correctly. The recommended fuse type for this drive is UL Class CC, T, J, or Type BS88, with a voltage rating of 600V (550V) or equivalent. The recommended circuit breakers for the drive are HMCP or equivalent.
Protection Features
The PowerFlex 523 AD drive comes equipped with several protective features to ensure the safety of both the motor and the drive itself.
Motor Overload Protection: Motor protection feature, which provides Class 10 protection through I2t overload protection. This feature can handle overloads which are: 150% for the 60s and 200% for the 3s.
Overcurrent Protection: This feature has a hardware limit of 200% and an instantaneous fault limit of 300%.
Overvoltage Protection: The drive has an overvoltage protection feature that trips when the bus voltage exceeds the specified limit. The trip occurs at 405 Volts DC bus voltage for 100-120 Volts AC input, 405 Volts DC bus voltage for 200-240 Volts AC input, 810 Volts DC bus voltage for 380-480 Volts AC input, and 1005 Volts DC bus voltage for 525-60 0Volts AC input.
Undervoltage Protection: PowerFlex 523 AC drive also has an Undervoltage protection feature that trip when the bus voltage falls below the specified limit. The trip arises at 190 Volts DC bus voltage for 100-120 Volts AC input, 190 Volts DC bus voltage for 200-240 Volts AC input, 390 Volts DC bus voltage for 380-480 Volts AC input, and 487 Volts DC bus voltage for 525-600 Volts AC input when P038=3 and at 390 Volts DC bus voltage for 525-600 Volts AC input when P038=2.
Control Ride: The control ride-through feature is another protective feature of the PowerFlex 523 AD drive. It has a minimum ride-through time of 0.5 seconds and a typical ride-through time of 2 seconds. The faultless power ride-through feature also ensures the drive remains operational during brief power interruptions, with a ride-through time of 100 milliseconds.
These protective features ensure the PowerFlex 523 AD drive is reliable and safe, protecting both the drive and the motor from damage in the event of a fault or power interruption.
